Program History:
In existence since 1974, Little Bit provides equine-assisted activities and therapies to hundreds of individuals with disabilities in the Puget Sound Region on a weekly basis.
Additional Information:
Little Bit utilizes the support of hundreds of weekly program volunteers in order to provide therapeutic horseback riding classes and therapy sessions to children and adults with disabilities. Volunteers work with both the horses and riders. Program volunteers are taught how to prepare horses before class, including grooming and tacking, how to support riders in classes by being a leader or sidewalker, and how to put away the horses after class.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age, pass a background check and attend the required trainings. Volunteers commit to a 2 hour shift once a week for the length of the 8 to 12 week quarter.
