Mission Statement:
for the advancement of mathematics teaching, learning, and enjoyment in Suffolk County
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Students learn best in a non classroom environment and teachers shine in non-traditional settings. We try to provide both.
Teacher assistants are sorely needed to create and continue our many program offerings.
Program History:
in existence since 1968 doing many and varied events for teachers and students (see below). Affiliated with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the New York State Math Teachers Association (NYSMTA). Incorporated in NY State as a not for profit. Registered with the IRS and NYS as a tax exempt organization.
Events:
Annual course contests, two levels of competitive leagues (junior and senior high school), annual grade 9 to 12 single day tournament, annual grade 4 to 6 single day tournament, single day elementary grade symposium, teacher workshops, administrators luncheon, and more.
Additional Information:
Volunteer teachers, administrators and college interns are needed to help maintain and expand our program offerings. Our board of up to 18 persons manages all the actions of the association.
