ACS CAN has volunteer action teams in over 400 communities across the nation. And they are filled with people just like you - ordinary Americans who are ready to dedicate a little bit of their time to the fight against cancer.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
If we are to end suffering and death from cancer, it won't just happen in the doctor's office or research lab. This movement must start at the statehouse and in Congress. And, it will be led by volunteers - regular people whose lives have been impacted by cancer - rallying together to demand change from their elected officials.
Program History:
Established in 2001, ACS CAN Hawaii-Pacific has been instrumental in the passage of colorectal cancer screening legislation, tobacco control legislation and other forms of health care issues ranging from access to HPV vaccinations to palliative care.
