Program History:
The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Boston is the oldest and largest one-day walk to fight breast cancer in the nation, raising more than $58 million for the Society’s breast cancer research and programs, since its inception in 1993. On Sunday, October 4, 2015, nearly 40,000 walkers and volunteers are expected to converge along the scenic Charles River Esplanade helping to raise more than $3 million to help the American Cancer Society save lives and create more birthdays by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back against breast cancer.

The American Cancer Society's 23rd annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Boston (facebook.com/BostonMSABC ) is set for Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the DCR Hatch Shell. The special fundraising walk unites the community to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors, educates women about the importance of prevention and early detection, and raises funds to help the Society do the most for people with breast cancer today to end the disease tomorrow. Volunteers are vital to the success of Making Strides in Boston, assisting and supporting 40,000 dedicated participants. Volunteers are needed the day before Making Strides, Saturday, October 3, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., to help prepare snack bags for walkers, as well as set up for the following day's event. On Sunday, October 4, volunteers are needed to help set up, clean up, cheer on walkers, and act as route monitors. Times vary depending on the volunteer role.
