Mission Statement:
With the mission of bringing people together to discover, create and celebrate both the visual and performing arts, The California Center for the Arts, Escondido is the cultural center of North San Diego County.
Program History:
The smART Festival is a collaboration between the above organizations and a wide array of community artists, theater and musical groups, as well as a multitude of volunteers. The festival is the culminating event of smART Fridays, which is an interactive arts program that brings teaching artists to schools. Community artists and performing arts groups join with teachers and students in the classroom to provide visual and performing arts experiences. The work produced through this artist/school collaboration will be displayed or performed at the smART Festival.
Events:
Student performances in choir, musical theater, dance, band, theater, music, and even mime!
Student photography exhibition in our Museum.
Additional Information:
The California Center for the Arts, Escondido, is seeking volunteers for our upcoming smART Festival - a community-wide display of visual art & performances by local Escondido students. The festival takes place on Saturday, April 9, 2016, 10am-2pm. Volunteers are needed the day of to facilitate art activities, maintain the information booth, distribute flyers, tally museum attendance, usher, and to assist timely transfer of performers from warm up to stage. Volunteers are also need the week of the April 4-8 for gallery layout/art installation. Experience working with children and an interest in the arts are a plus!
