Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Together, we make a big difference in the Quality of Life of our patients and their families as they approach end-of-life.
Program History:
At Heartland Hospice, our Volunteers are the heart of hospice. Our Heartland Volunteer Team Members celebrate our patients' sense of dignity and community, even as life is ending. Each Visit Volunteer provides unique and special benefits to our patients, as we all share and grow together.
Additional Information:
With our Visitor Volunteer program, individuals can volunteer for as little as 1 hour a week!
Our volunteers are matched with those who need a companion and a visitor on an on-going basis usually once a week for one hour. The purpose is to provide socialization and reduce isolation and loneliness. Not only do our volunteers visit individuals in their homes, but also in assisted living places and care centers. Individuals also enjoy volunteers to read to them, reminisce, look at pictures, listen to music, play bingo, etc.
