Additional Information: ON GOING MOSER PARK NATURE CENTER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Nature Center Attendant
This position allows the volunteer to learn about and share knowledge of local flora, fauna, ecology, history, and science. Training and orientation are provided to allow the attendant to answer questions from the public and offer interpretive natural educational programs and hikes. Duties include opening and closing nature center, maintaining exhibits and display animals, and engaging with the public. Those with knowledge in particular fields are invited to conduct special programs!
Special Exhibits Assistant
Those who have artistic, native gardening, or building skills are invited to help us make signs, murals, exhibits, and other improvements to the nature center. Call to discuss how we may pair your abilities with our needs!
Public Relations
The Moser Park Nature Center needs some help getting the word out about all of the educational programming we offer free for the public. Those with experience in marketing or anyone willing to pass out fliers, put up posters could help us reach a wider audience.
Natural Resource Management
Individuals and groups, even large ones, can make a great difference to the natural appeal of our parks. These projects involve removing invasive plant species; getting "down and dirty" with the potential of poison ivy, bugs, and hot weather (some projects are more involved than others). There is a big payoff for your hard work in knowing you have helped improve habitat for native plants and animals.
Trail Clean-up Maintenance
The nature center is at the eastern edge of the rivergreenway. Meet at the nature center and walk the 3 mile New Haven greenway trail, pick up litter and get some exercise along the way.
