Mission Statement:
The New Heights Educational Group, Inc. promotes literacy for children and adults by offering a range of educational support services. Such services include: assisting families in the selection of schools; organization of educational activities; and acquisition of materials.
We promote a healthy learning environment and enrichment programs for families of preschool and school-age children, including children with special needs.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
We believe that a child’s high-quality school experience includes exposure to diverse people, topics and learning adventures. Therefore, our goal is to provide a social/informational framework where parents and students can share educational resources, group activities, field trips, newsletters, meetings, and email/chatroom discussions or where students of any age can receive tutoring.
We welcome all home, charter and public-schooled families, regardless of educational philosophy, teaching style or religious beliefs.
Program History:
New Heights Educational Group (NHEG) was founded on June 1, 2006 and has grown leaps and bounds since then. NHEG’s Director, Pamela Clark identified strengths and weaknesses in home-school, charter school, and public school settings while exploring these for her children. Mrs. Clark also discovered that families were able to help each other, especially in understanding how to teach children with learning difficulties such as ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Autism, neurological and processing disorders. Families were able to cope with their children’s struggles better because of increased social support and this realization gave birth to NHEG which serves as a resource and literacy center for families.
At NHEG, we provide fill-in-the-gap, individual tutoring for children and adults which is necessary to reach students who have been left behind in traditional educational settings. NHEG promotes literacy by offering a range of educational services including assisting families in selecting schools, organizing educational activities, and acquiring educational materials. We promote a healthy learning environment for families of preschool and school age children, including children with special needs.
Mrs. Pamela Clark leads a team of over 75 volunteers that researches latest advancements, provides guidance to tutors, monitors evaluations, provides training to teachers for different learning styles. NHEG also offers leadership and internship opportunities via Student Advisory Group and Student Leadership Council. Additionally, NHEG offers an Adult Advisory Group for parents, providing an outlet for adults to have a voice in improving education.
NHEG offers free as well as fee based classes, publishes a bi-monthly educational magazine with over 56,000 views and broadcasts an educational internet radio program with over 156,000 listeners. In addition, NHEG has also published two books on education.
Some of the students were on the verge of dropping out of high school and have now graduated due to NHEG’s tutoring help. A student, who had suffered from seizures at a young age, was able to jump levels in science and math after receiving tutoring from NHEG. We have helped students find college resources, scholarship information and prepared transcripts for those in alternative schools. NHEG has also helped adults with obtaining GED. NHEG is truly a one stop shop in education.
