Philosophy/Belief Statement:
The horse is a unique therapy tool in that its walk is rhythmic and repetitive and encourages movement responses in riders that are similar to human movement patterns of the pelvis while walking. Therapeutic riding can provide: improved balance, posture and coordination; increased muscle tone and strength; increased range of motion and flexibility; increased problem-solving skills and concentration; and increased confidence, patience, and self-esteem. It is also fun!
Program History:
Northland Therapeutic Riding Center, a nonprofit, 501 ©(3) organization, was founded in 2000 in response to a strong community need for therapeutic riding and hippotherapy. NTRC opened in April of 2001 at Rosewood Stables with 2 children and 4 horses, in 2015; growing to 85 students weekly and 17 horses.
