Mission Statement:
We grow food and native plants, we learn about nature and how we can protect it while benefiting from it, and we educate children and the general public about food, farming, and the environment.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Oxbow Education (“OxEd”) programs are designed to connect kids to nature, both through on-farm Adventures and in-class Farmer Visits. Whether on the farm or in the classroom, Oxbow educators create learning situations for children to directly experience and relate to the natural world through sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. By creating connections to, curiosity about, and confidence in nature, OxEd lays the foundation for future stewards of the Earth, giving people the tools and inspiration to cultivate their own relationship with their community, the food they eat, and the natural world.
Program History:
Oxbow Center is a nonprofit farm, native plant nursery, and education facility. We welcome volunteers to the Kids' Farm for education and farming opportunities as well as hosting habitat restoration events on site.
Events:
Education & Kids' Farm opportunities are ongoing, specific tasks/programs vary by season but include Kids' Farm Naturalist and Summer Camp volunteer opportunities as well as assisting with farm/garden upkeep.
Upcoming Restoration Work Party dates:
Saturday, March 9th | 9AM-1PM
Sunday, March 17th | 9AM-1PM
Restoration events for groups can also be coordinated to fit your schedule.
