Our mission is to provide funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital through our annual cycling challenge. It is our hope that research funded by Pedal the Cause will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer.
Founded in 2009, Pedal the Cause had the goal of creating a community-wide cycling fundraising challenge in which all donations raised would stay in St. Louis and benefit Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital to provide direct funding for cancer research, cancer discovery grants and clinical translational care not currently eligible for federal funds.
Additionally, donations from Pedal the Cause make a positive economic impact in the St. Louis community as stronger research funding will continue to support this high profile and critically important segment of the St. Louis economy.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
Pedal the Cause is an annual cycling challenge that raises funds for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. 100% of all fundraising goes directly towards cancer research, cancer discovery grants and clinical transitional care. It is our hope that research funded by Pedal the Cause will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer. Our 2015 Pedal the Cause bike challenge proved to be a very successful fundraiser, contributing 3.1 million dollars through the efforts of 2,800 cyclists, 1,000+ volunteers and 18,000+ unique donors. And we are not stopping there! In 2016 we plan to raise $3.6 million, support 3,000 riders, and utilize 1,000+ volunteers, with 20,000 contributing donors!
Events:
Pedal the Cause is the regions top cycling event which donates 100% the funds raised to accelerate cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital. In order to keep this goal, we rely on thousands of dedicated volunteers. We need able volunteers for both pre, post and day-of event activities and a number of different opportunities are available.
