Volunteer at the Downtown Farmers Market to help market patrons Waste Wise. Tasks include talking to patrons about the importance of recycling and waste reduction, collecting compost, and running a waste audit while hanging out at the best market in town!
Enjoy your day with a free fresh loaf of bread or pastry from the Market for every two hours you volunteer! For more information, email Olivia Juarez at wastewise@downtownslc.com. The market runs Saturdays 8:00-2:00 June 11th through October 22nd.
This position requires a friendly, tolerant and outgoing attitude. Market patrons come from many different walks of life, and have a wide range of awareness about recycling in Salt Lake City. Volunteers may take one or more shifts to help educate people at Waste Wise stations about recycling and landfill myths.
Shift times are flexible; contact Olivia if different times work better for you or your group!
Please arrive 10 minutes early at the North Information Booth to get set up, & remember to bring your reusable water bottle and sun hat to stay protected from our summer heat! If you plan on eating and shopping at the market, remember to bring your reusable picnic ware (durable plates, utensils, cups etc) and cloth bag.
A free bike valet is offered to secure your bicycle, the Market is just a short walk away from Gallivan Center Trax and Old Greektown Trax station, and parking is free at the Gateway.
