Mission Statement:
Our purpose is to preserve and perpetuate the history and folklore of San Francisco and to celebrate its rich history of cultural diversity. And in the spirit of our primary affiliate, the San Francisco Public Library, we provide this service free of charge.
Program History:
San Francisco City Guides (sfcityguides.org) is a 38 year-old, non-profit organization that is a program of the San Francisco Public Library (SFPL) and a project of San Francisco Parks Alliance. We are dedicated to sharing the history, architecture, legends and lore of San Francisco. City Guides has 300 trained volunteer guides who develop and conduct 60 different historical walking tours for Bay Area residents and visitors 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, rain or shine.
Additional Information:
SF City Guides is looking for an individual who is interested in helping a growing tourism/arts and culture non-profit with their day-to-day operations!!
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Program Manager in the day-to-day operations of San Francisco City Guides.
- Along with office staff, recruit, interview and coordinate annual new guide volunteer training.
- Organize marketing materials and volunteers staff for the Annual SF History Expo.
- Answer and direct phone calls.
- Organize and input tour data.
- Respond to email inquiries from walkers and volunteers.
- File and organize paperwork.
- Support bookkeeping.
- Assist with various events for our volunteers.
- Attend various committee meetings (if desired).

Weekly Time Commitment:
Approximately 20 hours.
