Mission Statement:
Founded in 1996, the mission of the Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF) is to deliver educational programs and resources that elevate student, educator, and parent success by bridging the gap between needs in the Stamford Public Schools and resources in our community. The Foundation’s vision is that each and every student in the Stamford Public Schools will graduate high school prepared and inspired to be a productive member of society.
Philosophy/Belief Statement:
The Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF) has been serving the Stamford community since 1996. It offers programs and resources for all students in the Stamford Public School district, with an emphasis on serving children at the low end of the achievement gap.
Program History:
The Foundation delivers programming in four areas, with the goal that one day each and every student in the Stamford Public Schools will graduate high school prepared and inspired to be a productive member of society.
College and Career Readiness: Mentoring, Math Tutoring, Student-Athlete Support, and Scholarship Administration
Family Engagement: Books Across Stamford and Parent Leadership Training
Enrichment: Odyssey of the Mind and Summer Voyager camp
Kindergarten Readiness: Summer Start (for children lacking a pre-K experience) and Preschool Early Literacy Indicator (PELI) assessment program.
