Additional Information:
Stein Hospice was started 16.5 years ago as a nonprofit organization determined to care for the elderly in our community who were suffering from terminal stages of illness. Soon after, we expanded so that our nurses and aides could benefit patients and families both local to the Wilf Campus for Senior Living, in Somerset, but also in Union, Middlesex, Huntingdon, Mercer and Monmouth counties.. As a nonprofit, we are committed to offering the best possible care to our patient's and their families by providing an excellent nurse to patient ratio, allowing more time for each nurse to spend with patients. The Medicare hospice benefit requires we offer home health aides or nurses aides to assist in the patient's care, as well as social workers, chaplains, therapists and volunteers. All the care provided is personalized to the need and particular situation of each patient.
Volunteers are essential to the Hospice and improve the care each patient receives. They help address the patients' needs and the organizations needs beyond excellent comfort care, by providing social, spiritual and emotional support as well as efficient and compassionate back office systems. There are a variety of important roles volunteers fill so that patients and their families can receive the personalized care we all deserve. Considering the current restrictions due to the pandemic, all our staff, volunteers and interns will be given protective equipment to keep them and our patient's safe. Other requirements apply.
