Friends is a board-governed, volunteer-staffed, nonprofit community organization that administers and manages four Gift Shops at our hospitals. Since 1959, Friends has been a partner of Michigan Medicine, helping to promote the health, welfare and education of our community.
Gifts, magazines, cosmetics, candy, toys, games, books, cards, clothing, flowers and more can be purchased at the gift shops. The revenue generated from these shops provides funds for patient education programs, patient and family programs and more.
Additional Information:
Our non-profit Gift Shops are looking for volunteers to cashier and/or assist with merchandising, stocking, ticketing, and customer service.
Our greatest need is for cashiers who interact frequently with our patients, their families, and our employees. NO retail experience is required.
We offer training, flexible hours, monthly scheduling and Free Parking.
The Friends Gift shops consist of over 60 volunteers and paid staff. We have 4 stores, 2 of which are staffed primarily by volunteers.
Our volunteers generally work one 4-hour shift per week, however, this is highly flexible according to your schedule.
Periodically, we will also have Board openings to serve on our Gift Shops Board.
