Mission Statement:
YW helps women lift themselves and their families out of poverty. Innovative programs provide women the resources to build skills and confidence to become strong mothers, advocates for breast health, financially secure and successful in the workplace.
Program History:
For over 100 years, YW has focused on empowering women in the Dallas area. From the beginning, YW has been keenly aware of the concerns, goals, struggles and accomplishments of countless generations of women.
Additional Information:
• Nurse-Family Partnership pairs a YW bachelor-degreed nurse with a first-time mother. From pregnancy through the baby's second birthday, mother and nurse will have over 60 home visits preparing for a healthy pregnancy and birth, learning to care for her newborn, and building toward family self-sufficiency. • Women's Health provides breast health services to women who are uninsured or underinsured through mammogram and diagnostic screenings and patient navigation to access preventive care and treatment. • Financial Empowerment is the only asset-building program in Dallas County that provides a full menu of free financial education programming to include training, matched savings, personal financial coaching, banking products, and budgeting tools used to increase long-term financial stability. • Women's Enterprise provides business training, finance skills and personal development for women looking to launch or expand a microenterprise. The program begins with business plan education and training and continues with mentoring from industry experts and eventually access to capital.
